Mid April 2013 News

Boston 100k: Online registration for the 100k this Saturday ends Wednesday, April 17th at 11:45pm. Miss the cut off for online reg? No problem! Please download the Day-of-Event registration form for the 100k, fill it out on your computer, print, and sign it. Then bring it with you to the start at Hanscom field. We’ll have blank forms at the start but it helps if you come to the event with the form filled out.

Boston 200k: We have a modified route for 2013 which packs in even more back roads and scenery. The preliminary cue sheet as well as info regarding the informational control is posted on the 200k event page.

We are still looking for a few volunteers for the 200k so please contact NER’s volunteer coordinator if you can help out. Volunteers get to pre-ride the event for credit as well as getting a free NER membership and rides in 2014.

Portland Fleche: Just two weeks remain to get your team together and plan a route — entries are due on May 1st. One important change: Emily O’Brien will be stepping in as coordinator while I’m (Jake) am out of the country in early May. The mailing address for the entry forms is the same but if you need to contact Emily about your entry you can do so at Emily -at- emilysdomain -dot- org.

When Fleche planning save room for a delicious brunch the Sunday after the ride in Portland.

Boston 300k: Links to a very preliminary route have been posted on the 300k page. This is a ride you won’t want to miss as the route has changed considerably from last year. In 2013 we’re headed out to Northfield before turning South and riding down the Connecticut river and continuing back to Hanscom through the backroads of Leverett MA. For those who fondly remember the pre-2007 Boston 400k, this route will bring back good memories.

2013 Registration Now Open!

Online and mail-in registration is now open for all 2013 NER events in MA and VT. Click the “Event Calendar” link above to find links to the specific BikeReg pages where both members and non-members can go to pre-register for events. Event prices have stayed the same but there have been a few changes to start times.

If you wish to register via mail and save the BikeReg processing fee ($3) we have a editable PDF you can download, print out, and mail in with a check. Please fill the form out on the computer before printing if possible — there are less chances for typos if we don’t have to read your handwriting.

Our membership policies have changed slightly. Read all about it on the Membership Information page. You can become an NER member online right now — no volunteer requirement needed though it’s still highly encouraged.

Fleche Information: Once again the fleche has a Portland designation as it did last year. Five teams participated in 2012 and everyone had a great time. We hope to have even more teams this year so start forming groups and planning routes. Applications due on May 1st, 2013. More info on the Fleche Info page.

Welcome New Board Members

We are pleased to announce several vacancies and new positions on the NER Board have been filed.

Membership Director: Jon Doyle. Jon will be helping plan member events, coordinating member communications, and answering questions related to membership.

Equipment Manager(s): Dan Greene and Bruce MacDonald. Dan and Bruce are taking on the important task of looking after NER’s Boston inventory of gear used to support the events. Think of them the next time you cut into a watermelon, fill your bottles, and lounge in a chair at a control.

Please be sure to thank these volunteers when you see them on rides.
