This will be a rolling loop ride through Northern Vermont, avoiding all of the classic “gap” climbs and generally following 100N up to the Canadian Border and 14S back. The route will be scenic throughout, with long stretches of little traffic, and forgiving in that most of the climbing will be in the first half. A great route for a first time effort at a 400K with an easy to follow cue sheet.
Plan on having dinner the night before with other riders in Woodstock at its classic micro-brew pub, the Worthy Kitchen. Also, riders may want to drop off a swim suit and a towel with the ride leader [or just use “Jan”] at the start of the ride to have on hand at the lunch stop if they think a refreshing dip in a “classic” Vermont swimming hole might appeal to them. The bathing spot is right across from the northernmost control where riders can order a sandwich and drink of choice.
Ride Start Parking: Please park in the Windsor County Clerk’s office parking lot. It is the next building west on Route 4 from Maplefield’s on the right.
