Google Calendar of Events

Volunteer Dan Shinnick put together a Google Calendar of rides for this season announced so far and shared it with the world for those who find such a thing useful. Please keep in mind that details like ride start times can change but you can safely use this for general planning. Thanks Dan!

January 4th 100k @ 9:30am @ Ride Studio Cafe in Lexington

This Sunday NER will be offering the first event of the season — a 107k to Harvard MA using a rolling route through the Western Boston suburbs. Like all the routes we’ve used starting at Ride Studio Cafe in Lexington, this one is designed by Pamela Blalock and is also available a perm if you’d like to ride it on another day. (Contact Pamela for details.) But we hope you’ll come join us for the NER permanent offering of the event.

There is a control at the Harvard General store which also serves as a nice lunch stop for those interested. Once back hang out for a bit at Ride Studio Cafe and discuss the upcoming season. There are a few info controls so either bring a pen to write down the answers or snap a picture to review when you return.

As we have not announced membership or passed for 2015, this ride will be FREE for all riders. But please show up by at least 9:15 to complete the paperwork.

Board Election Results and NER Non-Profit Status

I am pleased to announce that we have completed the board election and the NER board for 2015 will consist of the following members:

  • Tsun Au Yeung
  • Sarah Bergstrom
  • Jon Doyle
  • Dan Greene
  • Jake Kassen
  • Chris Knighton
  • Melinda Lyon
  • Anthony Mennona
  • Emily O’Brien
  • Tom Worster

I want to thank everyone who volunteered to serve and everyone who took the time to vote in this election. I know from friends in other non-profit organizations that it is unusual to have more candidates than positions. We are fortunate to have so many people willing to support the organization.

I would also like to thank outgoing board members Justin Brooke, Eva Papp, and Dave Zion for their work on the board, particularly over that last year while I have been president.

I am also pleased to announce that as of Dec 12, 2014, NER has been officially recognized as a non-profit corporation by the IRS. I want to thank everyone on the board for all of the effort that went into completing this important step.

I hope everyone enjoys the holiday season and I look forward to another great year of randonnuering in 2015.

Best Regards,
Dan Greene
NER President
