NER Board Nominations and Elections

It is time to nominate and elect the board of directors for NER for the coming year.  In June we approved modified bylaws change the way that the board is elected.  Previously, the membership  elected 4 officers who would then appoint various coordinators to make up the rest of the board.  With the changed by laws we will now be electing a slate of 6-10 directors who will be responsible for appointing the various 3 officers from within the board (President, Clerk, and Treasurer) and may appoint additional coordinators as needed to perform various tasks (these do not need to be board members).

To begin with, we are looking for members who are willing to serve on the board of directors. As members of the board you will be expected to attend board meetings as scheduled by the president as needed to handle NER business.  This includes:

  • Electing the officers – President, Clerk, and Treasurer. You can find descriptions of the duties of the officers in the bylaws posted on the web site.
  • Scheduling rides and other events to promote randonneuring in New England. This includes determining levels of support and pricing for rides.
  • Recruiting, appointing and supporting volunteers to handle various tasks including coordinating volunteers, managing equipment for rides, marketing and advertising, merchandise among others.
  • Managing the finances for NER and filing the appropriate paperwork to maintain our non-profit status.

We will be accepting nominations for the board until November 15th.  If you are interested in running for the board of directors please send an email to elections@nerandonneurs.org indicating your interest and providing some background and any information you would like to share about yourself.  A list of those running for the board will be posted on the web site with any background information provided.  After the close of nominations a ballot will be mailed out to the membership (as of November 15th).  Members can vote for up to 10 candidates and the 10 candidates receiving the most votes will make up the 2015 board of directors.

If you have any questions on what is involved in with being on the board please drop an email to elections@nerandonneurs.org and we will do our best to answer any questions you might have.
